In New Zealand all trophy quality game is hunted on private ranches, which by law have to be fenced. Exceptions are Tahr and Chamois, which everybody hunts on government land and there are no exclusive hunting concessions. Nestled under the rugged might of the Remarkables Mountains, New Zealand’s best hunting destination, the Hunting Lodge could not be in more spectacular surroundings. In 2003 our operator was the recipient of Safari Club Internationals Peoples Choice Award as the 3rd Best Hunting Lodge in the world. Unlike most back-country hunting areas, the Hunting Lodge is easily accessible, just 25 kilometres from New Zealand’s premier tourist destination, Queenstown. The property rises from the rocky bounds of the Kawarau River Canyon – once the scene of the 18th century gold rush which gave New Zealand its most colourful and earthiest history. The property in New Zealand’s largest private hunting reserve, rising 7000 feet into the splendour of the Remarkables Range. The Hunting Lodge offers hunters a wide range of trophy hunts – Red Stag, Fallow Deer, Wapiti, White Tail Deer, Chamois, Himalayan Tahr, Wild Goat, Arapawa Ram and American Bison almost covering the whole spectrum of New Zealand game. An added attraction is complimentary small game, such as hare, rabbit and opossums, while there is excellent fishing for rainbow and brown trout in nearby rivers, Lake Hayes and Lake Wakatipu.
